MAKING A LEGACY GIFT

Jim and Diane have supported Emerald Youth's work since the earliest days of the ministry. They're grateful to continue to do so for years to come.

Legacy ... something passed on from generation to generation, often something of importance.

We had never thought much about a personal legacy yet would certainly hope and pray to make some positive contribution - especially a Jesus witness - to a future generation. Certainly, to our daughter and her family, other family, friends, congregations and perhaps even society.

What a blessing in our senior years to realize we are called and able to make legacy gifts, that careful stewardship through the years blesses us to be a blessing beyond our earthly years. What a blessing to pray about family, congregations, schools and ministries to receive something from us for others.

Indeed, what a blessing to make a legacy gift to Emerald Youth Foundation! We have been inspired by Emerald Youth Foundation from day one.

"It all started with rolling out a kickball!" While serving a few miles away, we were inspired and rather stunned by what God had in mind beginning with a part-time youth director, a courageous pastor, and a visionary, seemingly modest United Methodist church. The awareness of the immediate neighborhood, its people, possibilities and challenges.

A holistic, Christ-like concern for faith, health, learning and relationships. The immediate need to expand the ministry from one church to a community-based foundation, the incredible community support and most of all, the changed and enhanced youthful lives!

A particular blessing was being appointed as Emerald Avenue United Methodist Church pastor for five years. I (Jim) was blessed to witness daily, first-hand the five to seven days a week Jesus impact of Emerald Youth Foundation, to be a Board of Advisors member, and witness first-hand the step-by-step deeper impact in and beyond north Knoxville to other city neighborhoods.

The word here is blessing. As God told Abraham that he and the covenant people were "blessed to be a blessing," we are blessed to make sure Emerald Youth Foundation is among our legacy gifts.

May God continue to bless this faith-filled, hope-filled, love-filled ministry with children and youth!
